Most of the projects I contribute to now are on GitHub, except for Subversion ;).
I am the developer of Orca, a tool for plotting arbitrary data from text files onto a directory on a Web server. It generates plots like this:
I am a developer on the Subversion source code management system that is meant to replace CVS. I have a Subversion repository containing all of my open source projects.
I was the primary developer of the Amanda (The Advanced Maryland Automatic Network Disk Archiver) backup code version 2.3.0.4. I used it to back up roughly 180 gigabytes of disk storage nightly in our department. I wrote up a quick description of how this particular backup scheme works.

Ph.D. Research

I received my Ph.D. from Caltech in Geophysics. My thesis focused on determining the state of stress in localized regions in the earth from borehole breakouts measured in non-vertically drilled oil wells. It is titled: "The State of Stress as Inferred from Deviated Boreholes: Constraints on the Tectonics of Offshore Central California and Cook Inlet, Alaska" and is available for download. It contains an updated version of my first paper published in the Journal of Geophysical Research. The paper is titled: "Using Borehole Breakouts to Constrain the Complete Stress Tensor: Results from the Sijan Deep Drilling Project and offshore Santa Maria Basin, California" by Blair J. Zajac and Joann M. Stock.

The last chapter of my thesis contains an analysis of borehole breakout data obtained in Cook Inlet, Alaska and is being prepared for publication in the Journal of Geophysical Research.
